Mindful Minute #8 Dressed for Success

Put on the character of Christ.

Be Dressed in What Matters Most

Every day, we make choices about what we put on. But Scripture reminds us that what matters most is not what we wear on the outside, but the character we carry within.

Colossians calls us to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and perseverance. We are also called to forgive one another, put on love, and allow the peace of Christ to rule in our hearts.

Jesus reminds us that God even cares for the lilies of the field, dressing them with beauty beyond what Solomon could achieve.

This Mindful Minute brings these Scriptures together as a reminder to consider what we are putting on each day.

A Moment to Get Dressed for Success

Success in God’s eyes is not measured by appearances, possessions, or status.

Scripture points us toward something deeper. We are called to put on compassion, kindness, humility, patience, forgiveness, and love. These qualities shape how we respond to others and how we live before God.

Take a moment to pause, listen, and consider what you are choosing to put on today.

Pause and Reflect on What You Put On

Clothe Yourself With Christlike Character

Colossians gives us a beautiful picture of what it means to live as God’s chosen people. We are called to put on qualities that reflect His character and to let love bring everything together in perfection.

We are also reminded to let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts and to remain thankful. Jesus’ words about the lilies of the field give us another perspective. If God so beautifully clothes the flowers of the field, we can trust that He knows what we need.

Take a quiet moment to listen and reflect on what you are putting on – not just physically, but spiritually.

Put On Compassion and Kindness

Scripture calls us to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and perseverance in the way we treat others.

Choose Forgiveness and Love

We are called to forgive as the Lord has forgiven us and to put on love, which brings everything together in perfection.

Let Peace and Thanks Lead You

Colossians encourages us to let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts and to live with thankful hearts each day.

Mindful Minute #8 Dressed for Success

What Are You Wearing Within?

We spend time choosing what we wear, but Scripture invites us to consider something deeper: what kind of character are we putting on?

Are we putting on kindness or irritation? Humility or pride? Patience or frustration? Forgiveness or resentment? Colossians reminds us that these qualities are not simply ideas. They are ways of living that reflect our identity as God’s chosen people.

Jesus also points us toward the beauty of God’s provision. The lilies of the field do not worry about how they will be dressed, yet God clothes them beautifully. These Scriptures invite us to slow down, consider what matters, and trust God with both our outward needs and our inward character.

Colossians 3:12–15

12 Put on therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, perseverance;

13 bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any other; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do.

14 Above all these things, walk in love, which is the bond of perfection.

15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body, and be thankful.

Matthew 6:28–29

28 Why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They don’t toil, neither do they spin,

29 yet I tell you that even Solomon in all his glory was not dressed like one of these.
